Concrete FAQs

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about ordering ready-mixed and volumetric concrete from Rhino Concrete. Can’t find what you’re looking for?

What is the difference between volumetric and ready-mixed concrete?

Traditional ready-mixed concrete is batched at a plant and delivered in a drum mixer, so you order a fixed volume in advance. Our volumetric mixers carry the raw materials separately and mix fresh concrete on-site, exactly to the volume and grade you need. That means no waste, no part-set loads, and you only pay for what you actually use.

Do you deliver concrete across Greater Manchester?

Yes. We deliver throughout Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas, including Manchester, Stockport, Rochdale, Bury, Bolton, Wigan, Denton, Glossop and many more towns. If you are unsure whether we cover your location, just call us on 0161 711 1165 and we will confirm.

Is delivery really free?

Yes. We offer free delivery on our concrete orders, and we also provide a free wheelbarrow service to help you move the mix to where it is needed on your site. There are no hidden part-load charges.

What is the minimum amount of concrete I can order?

Because we mix on-site with volumetric wagons, there is no large minimum order. You can order anything from a fraction of a cubic metre for a small domestic job right up to large commercial volumes — and you are never charged for concrete you do not use.

What grades or mixes of concrete do you supply?

We supply the full range of standard mixes, from GEN1 for foundations and blinding through to higher-strength structural grades such as C30, C35 and C40. If you are not sure which grade your project needs, our team can advise based on the application.

How much does concrete cost?

The price depends on the grade, the volume and the access on your site. Because volumetric concrete means you only pay for what you use, it often works out more cost-effective than ordering a fixed load. For an exact figure, see our concrete prices page or request a free, no-obligation quote.

How quickly can you deliver concrete?

We aim to be flexible around your schedule and can frequently accommodate same-week and next-day deliveries depending on availability. Call us on 0161 711 1165 as early as you can so we can book a slot that suits your project.

Do you offer concrete pumping?

Yes. For sites with restricted or hard-to-reach access, we offer a concrete pumping service so the mix can be placed exactly where it is needed without the need for manual barrowing over long distances.

What happens if I order too much or too little concrete?

This is the main advantage of volumetric concrete. Because the mix is made fresh on-site as it is poured, we simply make exactly the amount you need on the day. You will not pay for surplus material, and we will not run short part-way through the pour.

What types of projects do you supply concrete for?

We supply concrete for a wide range of work including foundations and footings, driveways, paths and patios, garage and shed bases, floor slabs and screeds, and agricultural and commercial projects of all sizes.
